Hello, world: how this site is built
Astro, a monochrome design system and a GitHub Action that ships every commit to Cloudflare Workers.
astrocloudflarethis-site
This is the first post on antzlp.com. The site is intentionally simple: static HTML, a small amount of JavaScript for the starfield and page transitions, and nothing else.
the stack
- Astro renders every page to plain HTML at build time.
- Tailwind CSS handles styling, with colours defined once as CSS variables so light and dark themes are just a swap.
- Content collections turn Markdown and MDX files into typed posts and projects.
- Cloudflare Workers serve the built files from Cloudflare’s edge.
how a change goes live
- I push a commit to
main. - A GitHub Action installs dependencies, type-checks and builds the site.
wrangler deployuploads thedist/folder to Cloudflare.
- run: npm run check && npm run build
- uses: cloudflare/wrangler-action@v3
with:
command: deploy
Pull requests get their own preview URL, so I can look at a change before it reaches the real domain.
what’s next
More projects, more writing, and probably a contact form running on a Worker.
